MEET THE ORIGINAL #DDCHICKS

We’re Donna and Amanda, a mother and daughter duo who share a love for color, effortless style, and everyday function. You may know us as the women behind the signature bird or the designers of your favorite quilted handbag.

We formed DD Bird with the goal to put a twist on a classic look and support other women in the process, creating for the mother on-the-go, the professional running into her next business meeting, the busy student carrying essentials, and the explorer ready to take off.

Our mission is to empower women through functional and meaningful handbags to take flight and follow their passions, whatever they may be.

Each DD Bird bag is designed with you in mind- down to the locking zippers, abundant pockets, and unexpected interior ginghams. When you carry a DD Bird bag, you’re not just carrying your favorite bag, you’re carrying our mission to help you achieve your dreams.

For as long as we can remember, our dream as mother and daughter has been to launch a business together. After 2 years of creating our designs, tweaking them to perfection, and working with our manufacturing team to responsibly source materials, we are overjoyed to introduce our first collection!

For this special endeavor, we knew we also needed a special name. DD Bird is an abbreviation of Donna Dee Bird, Donna’s first, middle, and maiden names. Our signature bird represents beauty, strength, freedom, and the confidence to fly with no glass ceilings, just sky.

For our first photo shoot, we decided to choose a sentimental, tropical spot- Sanibel Island. As a family, we’ve traveled south to this island for several years to create memories and enjoy endless laughter. We couldn’t think of a better locale for our first DD Bird shoot to share a little bit of our story with you.

From pink cottages to blue waters, we were inspired by bright colors and our favorite, beloved print- gingham. In each DD Bird bag, you’ll find a matching interior gingham lining and our ode to the south.

With our cherished coastal spot also comes concern and appreciation for our oceans and wildlife. So, we’re happy to share that each DD Bird piece is responsibly sourced and made with cruelty free materials.
